Join the WWF Expedition to Patagonia – 16-26 January 2012
If you fancy stopping in one of the most unusual accommodations in the world whilst visiting some of South America’s most breathtaking scenery, why not have a look at this WWF tour. Taking place on 16-26th January 2011, the trip will see you not only get the chance to explore the amazing Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile, but also enjoy a luxury stay in the surreal Ecocamp.
The camp itself is made up of individually domed suites that have been modelled on native huts of the Kawesqa people. This indigenous group has occupied the Patagonian regions for hundreds of years, and are still native to the land now. These amazing enviromentally friendly domes have been created to produce as little ecological damage to the planet as possible.
The design is perfect for handling Patagonia’s strong winds, up to 100 miles an hour, with the energy used to run the camp gained only from renewable sources. The suites themselves are amazing inside, each with their own private bathroom, low emission wood stove, and round windows in the bedroom ceiling to reveal the stars as you drift off to sleep.
Patagonia is well known for it’s dramatic mountain peaks and a glaciers, and is home to an array of unique wildlife which you will encounter on foot and at sea.
