Help WWF Save Mexican National Park
WWF charity officials are asking for your help to save the Cabo Pulmo National Park in Mexico, which is under threat due to the government approving a proposal for a huge tourist development in the same area of the Gulf of California. Permits have already been granted for the new coastal project which will allow the construction of hotels rooms, marinas and golf courses. This will prove to be devastating for the local animals and ecosystem who call the Cabo Pulmo National Park home.
The park was first started by the surrounding people of Cabo Pulmo in 1995, who needed to protect the local fish to sustain their livelihoods. The area itself is home to whale sharks, manta rays, humpback whales and sea turtles that migrate up and down the coast and has one of the best preserved coral reefs in Mexico. Thank to the locals enforced restrictions, the area has stopped the depletion of fish populations and aided many species recovery in the area, an area that is now under threat from unnecessary development.
