Help WWF Protect the Last Remaining Tigers on the Planet
WWF UK are looking for your help to halt the tigers slide into extinction. With only an estimated 3,200 left in the wild on the planet, now is the time to stand up and be counted in the protection of one of the world’s most beautiful creatures. Already extinct are the Caspian, Bali and Javan tigers, with the South China tiger possibly following suit.
In India, many of the once famous tiger reserves no longer have a single inhabitant, with the illegal poaching of the animal to blame for the drastic fall in numbers. The black market trade in tiger meat, bones and skin is still booming. Plus with many tiger habitats being destroyed by road building, logging and land clearing for palm oil plantations, tigers are being forced into closer contact with humans which results in deaths on both sides.
You can help by joining the WWF adopt a tiger scheme, with your donations going directly to the fight to help save the tiger from extinction. Across the globe, the WWF has teamed up with 40 organisations to support the tiger to make it possible to double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022 by :
- Stopping poaching
- Clamp down on illegal trade in tiger parts
- Protect habitats on an unprecedented scale
- Put saving tigers on politicians agendas
